Tonight, I went ice skating with my family. Last year if I went 5 times I'd be surprised because the bottom of my feet hurt so much. I'd end up skating maybe 10 minutes off 10 minutes.

Tonight, I skated for over an hour, I stood a few times to keep an eye on my 3 year old, but I never had to sit down. I may pay tomorrow as it was a long skate, but tonight I am so proud of myself. I can't wait until the next time I can go!

Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora. Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.

I miss skating!! My parents always joke that I learned how to skate before I learned how to walk (pushing a kitchen chair around the backyard rink in Labrador)! I haven't skated for years just due to the fear of the damage I could do to my body if I took a bad fall. I'm having my surgery this month, should have lost enough to give it a try this winter!

Thanks everyone! This was one of my goals for weight loss and I'm glad I made it. By the time winterlude comes, the boys may want me to rent a sleigh, because I won't want to stay in one spot

The only thing I'll miss is the Beavertails. I'll just have to let the kids enjoy them for me.

That's great. Congratulations. I'm looking forward to actually skating at Winterlude this year also. Three years ago, I walked down the canal while everyone else skated. Not this year. You and I will be leading the pack! Way to go. Gail
