Hi all :)
I just wanted to post and say that I found Obesity Help when researching WLS and it's so nice to see a board where I can information on local resources, doctors, wait times etc.
I'm quite literally at the very beginning of the process and was really unsure whether I wanted to pursue WLS, but after reading so many of your stories I truly believe it is the right decision for me to move forward.
Just wanted to thank everyone for sharing and being such a great resource and source of support, even for super-newbies like me!

Hi there. You've found a great place full of people of every size, shape, and frame of mind. Some people you'll find are the blunt, candid, "cold hard truth" tellers, and some are more gentle in their manner and in their responses. All in all, we are a mixed bunch, but you'll find we work well together to answer questions (even the tough ones), and offer encouragement.
(Wow- am I sentimental today or what??)

Hey Sarah -
welcome.
I can honestly say that I would not have done as well as I have (I'm six months post-op) without the OH group.
I was so scared when I first started out.
I was afraid I would mess myself up with my ignorance.
I was afraid something would happen during surgery.
I was afraid my psych assessment would disallow me.
And it all turned out so well.
I can't believe I waited as long as I did, and that I debated the pros and cons as long as I did.
It's not an easy road you've chosen. but for 99.9% of the people I have spoken to here, it has absolutely been the first best thing they could have ever done for themselves.
Congratulations on reaching out to us, and wlecome to the forum.
(P.S. I'm one of the "speaks-her-mind-nasty" ones)

Welcome to OH, Sarah. I love your sign in name, its so positive!!! (but on the other hand, through this journey you'll find that there will be so much more of yourself that you'll discover!!)
Lots of good info here, for sure! Some drama sometimes too, but that's always fun..
We loves the supernewbies!

Hi Sarah and welcome to OH. As everyone has said, you'll find a wealth of information on this site and really great people to help you with any and all questions.
Not sure if you saw earlier posts but I am trying to get a peer support group going for the Hamilton/Burlington area. Our first meeting is this coming Saturday, September 24th. The meeting will be held at 10:00 a.m. until noon. I have reserved the Community Room at the Police Services building, 3800 Southampton Blvd. Parking is available on the street. Hope you can join us and help kick off this group!
