Letter to OHIP re excess skin removal (knee)
I just got back from my follow up with my orthopeadic surgeon and she is going to write a letter to OHIP in hopes that they will approve removing the excess skin from around my knee. She told me that the skin impeded her ability to give me full range of motion after my knee replacement surgery. She would like to see the excess skin be removed and believes that OHIP should pay for the surgery. I doubt that OHIP will approve it but I am truly appreciate her taking the time to try and do this for me. I don't regret having my knee replaced as my pain has disappeared. She is pleased with the improvement so far and wants me to continue working on getting my quad strength up. My quads haven't been strong and so I know that this will take some time. She is also planning on doing my second knee in about six months. Hopefully by then my operated knee will be strong enough to support my second knee. Has anyone had excess skin removed around the knee and if so how much did it cost you? Thanks for reading this.
