Ok so Im through Guelph but I think the basics are the same for the other centers.  Im supost to eat breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, supper, evening snack.  No drinking 1/2 hr before eatting and 1 hour after.  Now im a coffee drinker and even though for now its decaf I need my coffee in the morning and Im having trouble figuring out how to work this without having to drink fast.  Before surgery I would make a pot and sip it through out the morning and I know I can't do that now.
Could some others give me an idea of time lines on how you work this, especially if your a coffee drinker?
By the way I work afternoons so saying eat breakfast at 7am isn't going to happen.

its no drinking half an hour after, not an hour, and you just fit it in where you can. Hard to write out a schedule.

Early out you need to watch the clock. When that 30min hits, be ready with the drink!! You can't waste time!!

I never did breakfast AND snack - I called my coffee with milk (and protein for me early out) breakfast. And then my yogurt or meat and cheese roll or egg was morning snack. I had my priorities.

Nothing made me happier than when my dr told me that new studies proved that caffeine drinks (for a regular coffee drinker) count as your liquids!!

Yeah, protein coffee is your friend. half a cup of skim milk, half a scoop of vanilla or cappuccino protein powder, mixed up well, topped up with fresh decaf (or regular) joe... yummy! I drink it every morning. If it's decaf, it even counts towards your water for the day (as does your milk and your protein shakes).

Thanks for your help.  For some reason I thought Guelph had said 1 hr after eatting not 1/2 hr but with so much stuff we have to take in I very well I could have mistaken that.
I never thought about the protien coffee stuff so I will look for it.
Thanks again

Joanne...yup, early out is tricky, like someone else posted...keep a chart!! start early, finish late!! thats the only way to get everything in!!  We were 30/60 as well, I still wait these times even after 3 years and a a few months, it does get better!!  Patti K.

I'll tell you what works for me.
I stop drinking right before I eat and wait 1/2 an hour minimum afterwards.

I asked Dr. Reed how long it takes for liquids to pass thru and he said like a minute, so why stop drinking 30 minutes before you eat. I do feel a bit fuller when i eat if I've just finished drinking but that's a good thing right?

that's just what works for me.

That was one of the things I questioned Dr Sohi about and didn't get a satisfactory answer.  If I no longer have a sphincter aren't fluids just passing thru the stomach and why wait a 1/2 hr?
