Hi Steffi
Im going through the Windsor Assessment Centre. I was referred September 30, 2010, had orientation March 2011 and I have had all my appointments and I am waiting for my appointment with the surgeon at TWH. I was given the choice of Guelph or Toronto for surgery. I found the staff in Windsor great. Good luck in your journey.

I'm the Windsor route as well.  Windsor is strictly an assessment centre and surgeries are performed elsewhere.  I was given a choice between Hamilton, Guelph, and TWH in Toronto, once I was given the green light.

My referall went in Aug 6 2010, orientation in February 2011, nutrition class, social worker, nurse, doc March-May, follow ups in July and August, given the green light Aug 11, surgery orientation is October 20th.  After that, meet the surgeon, PATs, then surgery.  I'll be lucky if it happens by the end of December.

The staff have been great at Windsor, the place is easy to get to once you find it the first time, both the hospital and the clinic, and I will be having in surgery at TWH as the doc told me it was the shortest wait.

Hope that helps.

Hi Steffie - my assessment has also been done through the Windsor centre & I found the staff to all be pretty helpful. There are 4 different doctors working there and it's easy to get to with free parking as well. I'm just waiting at the moment for the call from the surgeon in Toronto. You can check my signature to get an idea of what my timeline has been like. Good Luck!

 Hi Steffie,

I'm going through Windsor as well. I have found all of the staff to be very helpful and awesome to deal with. I have Dr. Shaban.
My referral was sent by my GP in November 2010. My orientation was April 2011. All of my appointments went fairly quickly.

I meet with Dr. Shaban for the last time on Monday (Oct 4th) and will get my green light, and surgery class. I will also be letting him know which hospital that I choose and my file will be referred.

I am finding that the hardest wait time for me is now. Waiting for that surgery class and referral to the surgeon. It's been 5 months now and although it went quick with the appointments, I really just want to have the surgery done now and start my new life.

You will find that once you get your orientation, the time will fly with all of the appointments, and tests etc.

Good luck to you!

Tracey

hey steffie,
i went through the windsor clinic for my assessment last year. once i had the initial orientation (end of may 2010), i found the process went fairly quickly. i live in london and had to take the train to windsor for appointments, so the staff was always very accommodating in trying to book a few appointments for me on the same day (dietitian, social worker, doctor).
i have dr. shaban and i really like him. he is very supportive and easy to talk to.
i've seen 2 dietitians. i didn't really care so much for the first one i saw, but i'm pretty sure she no longer works there. the other one, chris, is really nice.
i was given a choice between surgery in toronto and guelph. i chose guelph and had a great experience with them.
good luck on your journey! xox

Hi Stefanie. I had Dr. Wilson at the Windsor centre. I adore that man. He is educated and open minded.
