I am just not sure what defines a slider food.
IS it certain # of Grams of fat?

And what are the reasons we should not have them?

TIA

Sliders are soft things that just go straight on through.  We are supposed to avoid them as they go through too quickly and make you hungry sooner than if you ate solid food.

Slider foods can be defined as Soft Foods - they're smooth and slide right through you - such things as yogurt, soup, cheese, pudding, jello, ice cream, crackers etc. you can eat an abundance before you're even full.
When you eat these foods you tend to get hungry before your next meal - as they don't have the ability to keep you full (they 'slide' through) - that's why dense protein (eggs, chicken, tuna, meats, etc.) is imparitive after surgery.

also all those lovely carby foods like chips, fries, cereal, granola, bread etc are considered slider food... they dont make you feel full..

I always think of it this way,, you NEVER hear anyone saying they binged on a steak or ham... but constantly hear people say they ate too many pretzels, or popcorn.. the more dense proteins you eat, the easier it is to stay on plan, and feel full

yes definatly all the carby, crappy things that offer NO nutritional value ~!!

not sure if bread is included in tha (as filling a person up)...bread really fills me up and I eat it in limited quantites, just think a slice of bread will expand in the pouch

..one of the reasons my bariatric clinic said to stay away from bread especially the bread basket or cheese buns offerred prior to the meals served at some restauraunts.

prior to surgery 323lbs....4 years post-op maintaining between 108- 114 lb loss.

life is AMAZING when you continue on the right path~!.  Use your surgeons gift to the fullest~!

so thanks for asking this question, it got me wondering if slider foods still offer you the same nutritional value.  i asked the nut today in guelph and she said even though they slide on through you're still going to get the nutritional value out of what you eat.  what you will/might feel is not full or be hungry again shortly after eating.  i find this doesn't happen to me when i eat slider foods as once the 30-45min has passed i'm back into the water, which keeps my pouchie busy till next meal time.  just sharing my thoughts.
