Nestea Zero

My mom just came home from the grocery store with a case of Nestea Zero for me.  She was so proud that she thought she found something I could have! I put it away in my "WLS cupboard" (which I think will eventually turn into a WLS armoire...)

I'm pretty sure that I already know the answer to this... but can I drink Nestea Zero while on optifast?  I'm pretty sure that if its made from real tea then it would contain naturally occuring caffeine from the tea leaves.  Can't seem to find any information via Father Google, can anyone help me out?

Depends on what your pre-op order were.  If they say zero caffeine, then yes it's off the menu for a bit.  There isn't a lot of caffeine in tea, but it is there.  Some clinics allow one coffee a day pre-op as long as it's black, so I would assume those same clinics won't have a problem with one ice tea.

Check the caffeine restrictions with your centre. That's the only thing that would preclude you having it, but afterwards yay!!

Like I said, I pretty much know the answer... but I was so hopeful!  My centre (St Joe's) says no caffeinated beverages. So I will put the ice tea at the back of the cupboard for now!

I'm just throwing my 2 cents in, is there lemon in the pre made ice tea I was told I was not allowed to have lemon before surgery?????

My only comment is - I love Nestea but I hate the taste of the Zero - I bought a case of it before trying it too.  Thank goodness my son will drink almost anything

Sue, Im the same way.  Nestea Zero tastes WAY too sweet and artificial.  I still prefer the Crystal Light Iced Teas.

I was really disappointed cause I'm bored with the crystal light flavors.  I bought a couple of the flavour singles at Wal-mart - they have different flavours.
