Belated surgiversay & second surgery update
Congratulations Jeff on your upcoming surgery! ( I'm so sorry to hear of your Grandma's cancers - that must have been so difficult for you.) Although you may feel sad to be away from home at Christmas, just concentrate on the reason why you're in Montreal & I'm sure that it will help you to cope. Will your family be there with you? I'm glad that your goal is becoming a reality for you. What a wonderful start to the new year, Jeff! Please keep us posted on how things are progressing for you & I wish you much success!

Oh I'm certainly fine with staying in Montreal over Christmas, but my mom is unsure if she can get the time off, which caused a bit of tension yesterday on the drive over to a dinner show I took her too.
I definitely do not want it to be my dad (and potentially step-mom). They are not the type of people I'd want around me due to their constant fighting and pissy moods with each other.
Deborah, a lady I work with at a local Rotary club said she'd gladly go with me as it means she could do some shopping while there, lol.
My only real sorrow is seeing "no wi-fi internet" at the hospital. I may have to come up with a solution for that! lol...last thing I need is internet withdrawls!

Is Gagner going to keep you over Christmas? He discharged me from the hospital 2 days after surgery and let me go home the following day. You are having the same procedure as I did but he may think there's more risk.
When you book the gastro make sure they will be able to give you a CD with the video on it and the program to view it. I know at least one person who had trouble with this.

Hi Jen,
Nothing has been said about keeping me for X number of days, however they did say staying a week is advised if something were to happen a couple days after discharge. I have no problem with staying over Christmas, and my understanding is my little niece won't be with my sister this year so not much keeping any of us home this year.
As for the gastroectomy I have no clue where to even consider booking this with. I'm assuming this is a hospital procedure and thus picking a hospital in the area is how I go about it? And thanks for the tip about the making sure to get the program to view it!

I am having my revision from RNY to DS with Dr. Gagner. I have been given the same time frame of the week of December the 18th. So I will be staying in Montreal for Christmas too.

Have you made any decisions into which hotel you might stay at? I took a brief look at a couple of the links provided in the email. Must say the the one at the top of the list that is also apparently the closest looks nice.

Hi Guys, Holiday Inn Montreal Airport is a great hotel and costs half the price of any in Veronique's list. If you go through CAA it's the same price as a secret hotwire hotel. I know that disability pays for the hotel but don't they have a price cap? Also, if you book it for 8 or more nights that means big $$$. Just a thought.

Jenn; my brother lives in the area and he chcecked out hotels for me. The Holiday Inn Montreal Airport is around 20 minutes from the hospital. I checked out Quality Suites on Auto. des Laurentides in Laval and it is 8-10 minutes from the hospital.
When I tried to book with the Holiday Inn back in September for a possible surgery date the 1st week of October, they would not give me a flexible rate because there was some convention going on in the area. I am glad that I did not book with them, because Dr. Gagner could not get OR time and I had to cancel my reservation.
This time around I am going to staying at the Quality Suites.
