Surgeon Appointment
Good news!! I met with Dr Penner today at TWH....bad news, they didn't give me the surgery date because the nurse practioners were away or busy or something. I signed the consent forms and he told me they are booking around November 16th.
Now, i just have to wait for them to call me back with the date, and get my optifast....
One question, how long do most people take off from work, is it 4 weeks or more? I have an office job, that i commute to Toronto from Burlington every day.

Congrats on your appointment. The MDs reccommend 4-6 weeks but everyone is different. I'm one week post and I dont think I could get into my car to drive belly is still too tender, Does Penner work out of TWH or one of the other sites? You should get your Opti by the beginning of next week. They deliver it pretty quickly.
Good luck, Leslie

Hi Lizzie
Congrats on the upcoming surgery date, should be soon
As far as time off, I took off 6 weeks, but some people only take off a week depending on their job etc.
the usual time off is around 4 weeks, because you are not lifting anything, you decide the weeks etc
with your surgeon.
I also had an office job, but I worked at a call center and did not have regular times say for breaks and
lunch etc so I did not know how my body was going to respond to the surgery and changes so I took
6 weeks off to recovery and get on track as far as eating etc
Also because of the type of work I had I could not just get up from my desk and either go to the
washroom or eat unless it was a scheduled break or scheduled lunch time, I was also controlled by
the calls that were coming in to my phone etc.
Take care and good luck with your upcoming surgery
, hope you get your date soon, but then
hang on because you will be on a ride of your life LOL

Thanks for the information. Dr Penner works out of TWH, which i am glad of that. I still have not heard back from them about a date. I am going to call tomorrow. I live on my own, and my sister is coming in from Nova Scotia to take care of me. So, really would like to get the dates settled.
I will see how things go on my recovery and not stress about going back to work. I have worked for the same company for 37 years, wih no major sick leaves off, so i think i deserve to take care of myself and not ru****
Will keep you up to date on my surgery date.
