Looking to start using a tracker online.  Which one do you use and what's good about it.

Thanks

I like myfitnesspal.com, but there are many others.  You'll get many suggestions from everyone.

Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora.  Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.

I have tried many but always go back to sparkpeople.  They all pretty much have the same features but I like all the extra articles on many different topics on sparkpeople.

Hi Paula,

I don't have an answer for you but I am also looking for a good tracker. I started using fitday.com but kept getting frustrated with it as the search facility is is not very intelligent. For example I am on full fluids and I wanted low fat campbells creme of mushroom soup. I tried numerous search words finally settling on low fat mushroom soup and that gave me a list of 200 results, none of which were what I was looking for. Brands significantly alter the results. If I do not get accurate results then what good is it? They keep asking if I want to upgrade which I assume costs money but if I don't like the basic product why would I trust something more from them? I suppose I will continue to play with it some more until I throw the computer off the balcony.

I really want a good tracker that is accurate. Does anyone have one out there that they use that incorporates the brands? Thanks for asking the question Paula..

Sparkpeople is brand specific but you have to remember one thing.  All those values are entered by people using the site so if nobody buys the same flavour of soup that you are using then it won't be there.  Sparkpeople allows you to add custom foods.  Once you are eating solids, chances are you will eat about 20 things on a regular basis so if they are not in there, then add them and save them as your favourite then it takes less than 2 mins to update your whole day.

i like My Plate, on livestrong.com there's a large data base of foods, including brand names. You can also add foods to the database, if you eat somtething that's not on there. Also takes into account your curretn weight, weight goals, etc when setting calorie goals.

I like my fitnesspal.com for all the reasons people posted above and it also has a feature that you can put in a recipe and how many servings and save it for your use later.  Not sure if they all have this or not.

I've been using myfitnesspal.com for years now. Love it! The app is easy to use too. I love that I can input my own recipes too.
