OT (long) I am feeling miserable! (Updated)
Never mind, you've already taken care of it. I should probably read all the posts before I respond, lol.
I have a terrible time with Symbicort and no longer use it for my asthma. I find it makes my lungs produce phlegm and I will have a coughing fit that makes my eyes and nose run. I'm better off without it, but my asthma is mild.

This sounds like what went through some colleagues at work. Dr's called it the 100 day cough...aka whooping cough (for adults). My bff has it every year and is on high doses of meds. Better to go now while itsin the eary stages rather than prolong the end result,
Good luck. Damn varmy kids. My 3 are sick at home vomitting so I'm praying not to get it!
Keep us posted!

I wondered about that too, however, we do have our ducts cleaned atleast once a year as we find our house can get quite dusty.
What I have been considering more closely though, is that it seems to happen when they turn on the boilers and heaters at school. My building is quite old and they never seem to clean the vents. Just a thought. Probably not the cause, but maybe and aggrevation factor?? As soon as they turned on the boilers, my class started dropping like flies. I have had atleast 5 students sick at home with fever and cough and many more suffering through it at school. It is probably just a function of the time of the year, and everyone huddling indoors more. Who knows??
Anyhoo. I am going to hit the couch (my new bed so I don;t keep my hubby up all night and so I can sleep sitting up). I took some of that codeine syrup about 10 minutes ago and I'd swear I feel woozy already...goodnight world!! Off to la-la-land....literally! hee hee

Hope you are on the mend. I get the same thing at least once year. Often I will get it in October and stay sic****il the spring. I do have asthma and as soon as I start to feel the cold symptoms coming I increase my meds (ventolin & symbicort) to try and avoid it getting more serious. Usually i have to take prednison, heavy duty antibiotics (usually 2 rounds) and cough syrup with codein. I get a fever, chills, etc. I get very sick and my whole body hurts from coughing up my lungs.
I see a respirologist who is very proactive. I find the change in seasons from summer to fall really effects it, turning on the heat and mold from leaves which I am allergic to. You might want to do an allergy test to see if there is anything that triggers you I use a hepa air filter in my bedroom which does help and avoid perfumes, and scented things like detergent, softner, etc. Stress plays a big role in my annual or semiannual illness. Even if the doctor says it's viral, if you have anything green coming up demand antibiotics. This can so lead to pnuemonia. My doctor always gives my antibiotics at the start to prevent me getting sicker.
