sticture??

Hello all.....the last 18 days have gone pretty well for me.  Then yesterday I noticed that it was harder to get my fluids down.  Sometimes I would spit them back up as they felt they were just sitting at my Adam's apple.  Today is much worse.  Whatever goes in comes right back up within about 10 minutes.  I  have my follow up in Thunder Bay on Thursday but wonder if this is in fact a stricture, will i be dehydrated by then?  I am going to call the clinic in the morning but am lookin for input from anyone who may have had this same experience.

I'm not hugely freaking or anything but the thing I don't like is that living in Fort Frances I don't know how long it will take me to get in to have it done if it needs to be done.

Any input is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Nancy

Hey, Nancy, I have my 5-month follow-up on Thursday as well, appts. at 9, 10, and 11:00.  I wonder if you would be sent back to Hamilton to have a stricture stretched, or if a Dr. here would be allowed to do it?  I don't have any experience with strictures, so I'm not much help, but do wish you well.

Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora.  Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.

you could very well be dehyrdrated by then. I havent had this experience, but yes, calling the clinic and getting advice from them is an excellent idea. Best of luck, and please keep us posted? Please? you know how we worry.

Hi to me it does sound like a stricture I went through the same thing as you are right now . I have been through and still going through the process of the the stretching I go again on Thursday for my 3rd stretch. Get in as soon as possible cause you can get dehydrated. I hope this helped a bit.

Hi Nancy,

We can live without food for a certain period of time, however fluids are essential.   It is kind of like breathing is not an optional thing!!  LOL

As Monica says, we do worry, so please keep us posted on how you are doing.

(hugs)
