4 days until Surgery
Hi
I had my surgery on December 7th. I wasn't too nervous, but I highly recommend keeping a journal. Also, I tried really hard to be present and identify my feeling and the causes. Sometimes the coming changes would freak me out (as I was preparing for after the surgery) and I'd really have to slow myself down and think about it. Honestly, a lot of my fear was the unknown. I found research, reading positive stories, and surrounding myself with positivity helped. My sister suggested that I make a vision board (She's a huge Oprah fan) to occupy my time and "create" the future that I want for myself. Meditation and prayer are also very helpful, if that is your belief. I have several guided meditations that help and Mahlia Jackson does wonders for the soul!
Overall, just remember that all change is like birth-messy, painful, and wonderful. Follow your doctor's advice (and the experienced board members too!) I wish you the best of luck.

Happy New Year April,
Best of luck with your upcoming Surgery. I am afraid I can't help too much with the nerves because I was fairly calm before the storm. I know that this may sound a little weird but before I even committed to the process I made myself a Surgery Pro and Con list. After I was done, I could see on paper that Surgery was definately the logical choice for me. This sort of let me emotionally detach myself from the process and just accept each step as it came. I was confident that statistically I was doing the right thing. I have an analytical personality, and realize this probably wouldn't work for everyone, but it sure helped me.
Just to prove I am not totally a logical person, I have to admit I wouldn't sign up here until after surgery to ward off bad luck.

Hi April,
What gave me peace of mind was knowing that could change my mind right up until the last minute. As long as I was awake I could change it, but honestly I was more excited about it than anything. I always believed I would be successful and it never strayed far from mind and I'm so glad that I went through with it. I wouldn't change a thing!
Good luck on Friday. You'll do great!!
