Happy New Year folks!
My surgery is Friday and I am pretttty scared! Any tips on how to overcome the pre-surgery jitters? How nervous were you?
Also, notice most of you have a weight tracker on the bottom that shows your progress, where and how did you obtain that?
Thanks in advance,
April
Well, I have to say I luv your name lol. I don't know why April but I can tell you that I honestly did not have even an iota of nerves going in to this. I thought for sure the week leading up to it I would ******vous wreck, but nothing. Then I thought okay, probably day before, nope still nothing. So I thought surely the day off I will be chewing my nails but nope, nada. I think I was just so dang determined and excited about the surgery that I forgot to worry, plus I figured my family and friends did enough worrying for me that I didn't have to do it myself lol.
I would suggest just focusing on where you will be one year from the date of your surgery, read the inspiration posts once more, read the success stories and say to yourself THIS WILL BE ME, THIS WILL BE ME.
Good luck on your journey. As for the ticker at the bottom you just go to tools and then I think it is widgets and tickers. Fill in the info and hit save and it will come up on your profile when you post.

Hi April,
I was nervous too, more so the day before and the day of. I just kept telling myself that I've waited over a year for this and this is what I need to be successful in weightloss. Keep looking at th positives, the reasons why you are doing this and know how many people have had this and are fine and successful. Keep reading all the wonderful success storis in this forum. Look at those tickers showing the weight loss. This forum is so inspirational to me. I read it every day.
I also had Dr. Yelle and he was so nice and comforting. I saw him every day after surgery in the hospital and was so happy to. You'll be in really good hands. The nurses at the hospital were wonderful and really take good care of you. It'll all be worth it!!
Good luck with your surgery and keep us us up-to-date on your progress.

Hi April
I was very nervous - was I doing the right thing? Would I be able to make it work when so many other times I'd failed? Who would take care of my family if I ran into trouble?
I coped by writing it down - why this was the right decision for me. I actually did it in letters to all the important people in my life, which I left in a file on my desk before the surgery, and which happily were never delivered. The process reinforced for me why this WAS the right way to go, and helped me feel there weren't any loose ends left for the people I cared about.
For the ticker, go to TOOLS on the blue tool bar at the top of the page, click body tracker, fill in the weight information. If your personal settings are left open to the public on your profile page your ticker should show up I believe.
Best wishes for Friday, and I look forward to seeing your successes recorded as you go through this journey. It's GREAT!!!!!!!

Hi April - My surgery was December 20th and I was very nervous and scared. Leading up to the surgery I focused on thinking 2 weeks post op. It definitely helped, but you would not be normal if you were not nervous. It is a natural feeling and you are taking a ;life changing step. All will go well and you will be in great hands.
To help your recovery I wold make sure you get up and start walking hours after you get to your hospital room. My anesthesiologist told me this was the key to a easier recovery and it worked magic for me. Stay on top of the pain and make sure you are vocal about how you feel. The doctors and nurses want the best for you and will make sure your pain is minimized. Sip your fluids, go easy and all will be fine.
Best of luck and a very happy new year.

Hi April,
I understand your anxiety, I have my surgery in 7 days and my anxiety continues to build. It is only normal to feel nervous at this point, only days away. I continue to read the post on here to help with the jitters, they have answered many questions of mine.
Take a deep breath, I'm sure everything will go well.

Hi April,
I think the long waiting period in Ottawa had given me sufficient time to think this process through. I have failed at other attempts to lose weight, and wanted a tool to help me. When I went for PATTS, I asked the anaesthetist about being nervous before surgery. I indicated that I wasn`t nervous as yet, but wanted to know that something was available. I ended up not needing anything the day of surgery.
All the best!
