I think my Vitamins are askew
So I was sitting at my desk this morning with my legs crossed, and now I have a huge bruise just above my knee where my leg was resting. It is an actual, almost instant, blue bruise. I have been noticing small ones here and there in the last week, but this one is big. I must be low on something. I was gue for my 1 year follow up in Jan. but due to sickness, couldn't make it in to have all my bloodwork done, so I postponed it till March break. Now I'm thinking I need to get my ass in to get my bloodwork done-- vitamin C, vitamin B12, folic acid, maybe vitamin K??
Yikes. :(

Hi Marny,
Well that sucks. I'm not a hundred percent sure but I did a quick google search and the most likely from the lists I've seen and considering RNY patient needs is low iron. It could be a number of other things, all of whi*****luding the low iron is checked through bloodwork. So I would suggest even if you can't get into your clinic to go to you GP and get some bloodwork done.
Best of luck, hope this clears up soon!

Have you had any drugs with ASA or alcohol? Have you ever experienced unusual bruising or unusually heavy bleeding in the past? Is there a history of platelet disorders in your family?
If the answer to all these questions in no, then it is likely iron. How much are you supplementing? Bruising can be indicative of a pretty serious deficiency. It can also, more rarely, indicate a vitamin C or zinc deficiency, so those should be tested as well.
