I agree with all that was said, but this is the most important in my books

As for being afraid of being successful - that's GOOD fear!  BE AFRAID!!  And let that fear MOTIVATE you to follow the rules.  Everytime you're tempted to cheat on the "plan", pull up that fear and WALK AWAY FROM THE FRIDGE.

Oh Dave.  I could have written that post 6 years ago, honestly.  Your fears are so completely normal.  My best advice is to write your fears down, one by one, and then use a logical approach to each one as to how it will have a positive outcome.

For example:

I am afraid of the surgery, pain, and not surviving it.  However, I am relatively young, I have an excellent surgeon, and there are hundreds of people on the OH forum who have been there and survived.  I can do this, not just for me, but for my family who needs me.

Best to you.

Dave, I can't tell you not to worry about it because of  course you are probably going to...I can only tell you that my surgery and now post surgery went/is going like a breeze.

I think you just need to put it into perspective everyday...if I don't get the surgery what will happen, the risk is minimal, no more so than any other surgery out there...I am doing this for me, I am doing this for my family and it WILL work out.

I found reading inspiring quotes everyday also helped me. I had them on my fridge, computer, anywhere throughout the house where I would see them.

Good luck!

Ditto to what everyone else said! Great words of wisdom! I also felt like you do! Even sitting waiting to be called for surgery I was thinking "what the heck am I doing". But a calm came over me and I knew I needed this to live a better and longer life. I had full faith in Dr. Reed. Any nausea and pain is taken care of is taken care of immediatley so no worries.

Best wishes to you, your going to do great!
