NSV
I went skating with my family! Last year, in hopes that I would participate, my husband bought be an awesome pair of Reebok skates with tons of padding, but even so, the pain in my feet made me give up minutes after setting foot on the ice.
Today was a different story altogether though! I felt so free. No pain at all, and I actually lasted longer out on the ice than the whole family. I just couldn't get over the feeling of being able to glide effortlessly (well almost effortlessly :), over the ice. Felt like I was flying. Ha! I am sure it did not look that way!
PS. I did all this skating about a half hour after I finnished a 10k run. My oh my, how times have changed! Probably all of the running has strengthened my feet, so that skating doesn't hurt as much any more. It is fun to surprise yourself with what you can do post-op. I thought at a year out, I'd have fewer NSV's, and they are fewer and farther between because "fit" and healthy are the new normal in my life, but every once and a while I find some little thing to celebrate, and this was just one of those days. :)

. . . . . .such fun, healthy and happy moments. . . . . I can feel your joy Marny!
I sharpened up my skates at Christmas but didn't get an opportunity to use them. I'm looking forward to taking them for a spin. . . . .figuratively, not literally. I just hope to stay up on them - it's been soooooo long.
Great NSV. . . .keep 'em coming.

Great accomplishment!! I have to say I am jealous.. I was a figure skater for about 12 years, and had to give it up because of flat feet and other foot problems. After I quit, I started gaining the weight.. I'd love love LOVE to get back out there once my weight is better. Maybe I'd be able to do jumps again!
Thanks for posting this and giving me a bit of hope :)
