I know, I know I said I was no longer going to post to the forum with information regarding iron supplements but this information is just too important not to share. You can now buy
FeraMAX 150 mg capsules x 100 at Costco for $50 (30 capsules < $16).

I was pleased to find out that the costco price for Feramax was only $15.79 for a 30 pack. I was taking 2 Proferrin a day ($23 for 30 at walmart) and my iron went further down at my 3 month appointment.(go figure?). The dietician suggested that I go to 3 Proferrin a day which I was reluctant to do as they are large pills that I have to cut in half, I wasn't that confident that they were working, and taking 3 would get very expensive.

After reading OKNEE's blog on iron I knew that the ferrous sulphates are not absorbed by us RNY'ers so what the heck I decided to try the Feramax. I have been using the Feramax (one pill per day) for about a week now and no bad side affects. I feel better, even more energy and it is way cheaper.

I am looking forward to my 6 month bloodwork. I really want to get this iron under control as I am scheduled for spine surgery in May and I don't want anything getting in the way!

Not all of the Costco's carry the Feramax in stock.....at the Costco near me we have to pre-order the 100 capsules.

I bought mine at the costco on the queensway in etobicoke. You have to ask for it as it is kept behind the counter.
