Is this normal?

I have been waiting FOREVER to get an appointment with the surgeon. I met with Dr. Jackson at TWH June of 2011 to make sure there would be no problems to perform RNY as I have a lot of scar tissue. NO ISSUES!! lol 
I have completed all the meetings and TODAY I got a call for my appointment with Dr. Okrainec on March 2, 2012. I will be purchasing my OPTI FAST (ewe) that day.
HERE is my problem.
I was excited about getting RNY and I still am excited, but I have been crying on and off since I ot home from work.  I don't think I am afraid of the surgery but I think I am afraid of all the changes to come. I have looked up Dr. Okrainec and found all information positive.  Is it normal to have this emotional change? 
AGH! 
Okay I'm over it. lol Maybe I just needed to vent. 
Anyone in the Oshawa area that would like to meet or converse for support please let me know.

I'm very happy that you finally got a surgeon's appointment!! I'm waiting to get mine. When was your last appointments?
Maybe it's just nerves because now it is in the forseeable future.

My last appointment was July 27-11 but then I had to wait FOREVER to get into a sleep clinic to make sure I didnt have APNEA. They just got the results about 2 weeks ago.

I am sure it is just nerves. I hope it goes fast for you.

I will now be trying to figure this website out so I can update my journey.

 Hi Brenda , I am having my surgery next week and I think that we all have doubts or second guess our decision. It is only natural to have fear of the unknown. I myself have broke out in hives this week because I am scared nervous anxious happy whatever you want to call it about the surgery. Like I was advised take a deep breath and relax. Everything will work out in the end. And venting on here is totally acceptable. You are not alone! That is why I love this sight. It is an extended family.   I live in Oshawa and would love to get together if you like. Denise

Aww Brenda its all normal that you are feeling that way!! I have my last 2 appts march 12th and then the wait for meeting the surgeon!! I am in Oshawa too...add me as a friend!

I think what you are experiencing is normal. The day I got my surgery date I was excited initially and then went into a funk. I remained like that during the entire optifast. It was almost as if I was in denial. We all respond differently. The best to you as you work your way through the next phase.

it's incredibly normal. You are sooooooooooooo normal. I'd be concerned if you weren't freaked out. Your life is about to change, in an incredible way.

Hi Brenda

Dr Okrainec did my surgery 1 year ago, and he's great!  Very kind man, and reputedly an excellent surgeon who is particularly skilled in laparoscopy.  Be aware though that the last surgeon appointment does not necessarily mean he will do your surgery - he's generally just the final hurdle before getting you surgery date.  All the TWH surgeons seem to be A1 though.
 
As to the reaction - BEEN THERE!  Hang in, and focus on the renewed life that will follow and the reasons why you decided to investigate WLS in the first place!  In my case, it was the best thing I ever did for myself.
