So, What in what inventive ways do you take charge and resist the snacking urge?

Tonight I tried a twist on movie night.  First we went for a walk. Then as hubby started munching on peanutbutter cups during the movie, I put in a teeth whitening tray. I got it on a groupon deal for $19.99 and it takes an hour. So as he sat snacking, I was unable to talk or eat, but still enjoyed the movie. It has a minty taste, so after I took them out. I did not want to eat. If you still have the urge after sitting for an hour, there is a desensitizing gel you can put on and sit with.
My teeth already look whiter and I did not cave.

Small victories. Anyone have any other strange tips that work for them that they care to share.

That is an inventive way for sure. Where did you find them on sale I've been wanting to try them. I better stock up, I will have the whitest teeth going lol

Sometimes you just put one foot in front of the other, even if you don't know where you're going.

Great way to delay eating :)

Post-surgery I do not have any snacking urges at any time.  I eat at my prescribed times and am full.  Do not bother looking for food at other times.  This is a blessing as I was continually eating pre-surgery.

Ooooh ... I'm going to try that.
I desperately need to start using my coping mechanisms - starting to snack almost every evening now.

Brushing your teeth works as well - not as well a*****hing your husband in the mouth - but it works!

I don't think there is anything wrong with a nightly snack - the issue is picking the right snack.

my NUT said that for most people, having a nightly snack is ok - it is the choice that is the important thing.  with me, eating dinner around 5ish and then nothing until breakfast is a very long time to go without food and I am 1 year out.

I may be impossible to do something else each and every time you want a snack. try to have something healthy or a big cuppa green tea.
