The pain in my a$$!!

Okay.  I have heard others talking about how they have pain in their posteriors after sitting a while.  I am just now really starting to grasp this post-op problem.  I have to say that lately, my ass has been sore, sore, sore.  I went with hubby to watch the Hunger Games the other night and even in a padded seat, I had to shift onto one side and then the other to avoid putting pressure on my tailbone.  Ouch.  Maybe I need but implants to soften and cushion things there.  I fear I have now developed quite the flat ass, as I know many of you out there (Karen ), readily admit to.

If you sit with really good posture, it takes the pressure off the tailbone, and puts it on your sit bones instead. This didnt really hit home to me, until I looked at the skeleton in my chiropractor's office, and looked at the anatomy of it. If you're sitting properly, the sit bones (ilia) do their job. That pic might help you realize that.

That being said, its really hard to sit with good posture all the time.

You're right.  When I sit at my desk at school, I have a very good chair with a straight back, and I feel no pain there.  When I get home, after putting the girls to bed, and watching TV, is when I notice it the most-probably since I am slouching.

It's not the tailbone that hurts - it's the butt bones (or sit bones as you called them)!  They HURT!  AND.... if you're especially lucky like me, you may even develop extremely dry skin there due to the pressure of sitting and have to literally grease your butt!  LOL

I do think it is my tailbone though.  I can also feel the "sit bones (as per Monica's very helpful picture), but they don't bother me. It is definitely my tailbone, right near my butt crack (man- I don't think I have ever used the word "butt" so many times in one adult conversation ).  That is what hurts- right there in the center, and it mainly hurst when I recline in any way- other than lying flat on my back.  Slouching on the couch just isn't as enjoyable anymore

*Le sigh*  What shall I do?? Such a hard life....
