My niece had the same problem & she had to use the enema for 5 days. She went after each one but to make sure she was "unclogged" the doctor recommended a 5 day course of it. Can't remember which she used though. She hasn't had the problem since & it's been years.

I had problems with bowel movements in the first six months post op after my sleeve.  I found the glycerin suppositories laxitive really helped.  It just helps the stool empty out easier when it does start moving.  I would give this a try with your enema.  Check with pharmacist to make sure this is ok.  Hope you feel better.  Not a nice feeling.  :(

Oh dear I feel your pain... as some of you know I am the QUEEN of constipation since my RNY... I had to use fleets for several days to clear out the blockage initially... I would recommend using the Fleet in "green box" not the mineral oil version now. As an alternative I found the Dulcolax Bisacodyl Suppositories also worked wonders. Let me tell you I figure I birth an elephant :(  cried for hours out of pain and relief! Once I  got the house cleared out sort of speak I would not allow myself to go more than 3 days on 4th day I helped things along with 1/3 of a Fleet... it seemed like enough to produce results without killing me, but bearing down is often needed.

I stopped taking Senakot and MoM, etc. I simply drank more water, walked more and added 100% bran fibre to oatmeal for breakfast and for the past two weeks low and behold I am going every 2-3 days ON MY OWN now... yahoooooooooooo! LOL I think the biggest improvement was the water... not fluids but good old plain water. I figure my next surgery will be fixing down yonder next year after I reach goal :(

Good luck... got my fingers crossed that you get things moving!

i had the same thing. I used a mineral oil one, because, in my opinion, what i needed was something to 'grease the way' (sorry, tmi), cuz i could feel it wanting to come out, it was just too difficult. Your choice there, i think.

If that doesnt work, the next option is for someone to manually disimpact you. That's not fun. That's someone's gloved hand greased up and helping the feces out. NOt trying to be graphic, just telling you what it is.

If its  been two weeks your in trouble!  If I was in this situation I would use EPSOM SALTS,   not the bath tub kind, its magnesium sulfate~~ laxative.

It is gross but it works... 2 tsp in half a glass of water... be sure you have a chaser...I would use a bit of milk.

It actually almost makes me feel sick to my stomach BUT it is worth it... relief comes in about 30-45 mins so stay very close to the toilet

I had the exact same problem.  I used the mineral oil enema....it says it works in 15 to 45 minutes....it took 3 hours for mine to work but it eventually did the trick.  I was pooping mineral oil for two days.....(sorry if TMI).  After that I took 2 softeners at a time, twice a day and now everything is fine.  I only have a bm every 2-3 days but I'm also not eating very much solid food yet.  Good luck....I was really frightened about it, but everything worked out in the end....(no pun intended).
