Headaches and Fatigue

Hey everyone!

Does anyone have any good remedies for headaches?  I've been having them for several days.  Not extreme pain, but enough that I've taken Tylonal which hasn't helped.  I'm also tired a lot, and not sure if it's just not getting a good night's sleep for a while (I'm a Mom of 2 boys, who were sick right after easter) or if it's not getting enough of some vitamin/mineral.  Nothing came back at my 9 month appt for deficiancies.

Anyone been like this, or have suggestions on how to relieve the headaches.  I'm at work, so taking a nap isn't an option, neither is staying home to sleep, as I have a 4 year old at home that doesn't usually nap.

Check your fluid intake - if you're getting a little low, it can cause a headache.  I'd be tired if I were a mom of 2 little boys who were sick too. lol

Tylenol just doesn't work sometimes, does it.  You *could* try a Tylenol #1 - you get it over the counter at the pharmacy.

Thanks Karen, I'll try upping my water intake.  When the headaches start as soon as you get up, it doesn't help.  But I could be dehydrated from not drinking enough the day before.

I may have to look at Tylenol #1s,  I used to take Advil for pain, but now I only have it on hand for my son, who won't take anything else.

I miss Advil.  I have taken it occassionally, with an antacid to protect my stomach, when I've been desperate.  But I'm 6 years out, not 5 or 6 months. lol

You may also be anaemic. Low in iron. That can cause headaches.

a lot of us are.

aww....it's difficult, one things I always emphasize is are you getting your blood labs done on a  regular basis??? anyt deficiencies need to be closely monitored for at least the first year.

Since I am not a medical professional...all I could offer is that possibly some of your iron may be lacking and if you are feeling tired, do you keep track of your protein intake (that's very important)...that could also result in fatigue and probably headaches.

bottom line if you haven't had your blood panel done within the last 2 months start there

prior to surgery 323lbs....4 years post-op maintaining between 108- 114 lb loss.

life is AMAZING when you continue on the right path~!.  Use your surgeons gift to the fullest~!

I just had my blood work done last month, and they never said I was deficiant.  I take 3 multivitamins a day with about 12.5 mg iron in them.  Mainly to make sure I get enough iron.  I'm not the best tracker of protein, but I try mentally to keep an eye on it.  Will try tracking that as well.

Thanks.

 Hi Cathy,

Sometimes I wake up with a bit of a headache. I have come to realize that it is because I sweat in the night and dehydrate (and weigh less first thing in the morning). I drink my water and the headache goes away.

Do you have seasonal alergies? They are bad this year and can cause headaches. I take a Clariten (non drowsey) every day to help with the symptoms.

Hope you feel better soon.

You mention morning headaches.  I get them wicked and for me it's seasonal allergies.  Also if you had sleep apnea prior to surgery and are using a cpap, have you been retested.  A pressure that is too high or too low could give you a thumper as well.

I didn't have sleep apnea, when I was tested I was on my back, and slept fine (well as fine as you can in a hospital bed ;0) ).    May try some allergy meds when I get home, see if that helps.  Too many causes of headaches, and the sun won't help me tonight either.  Probably the only person who likes clouds.
