WOW what great contributions to a list written on a napkin. . .the things people take for granted become an emotionally hurtful part of our everyday life.  It is nice to be surrounded by people who "get it".  Those who have been there lighting the way for those to come. . .so much to look forward to leaving in your past. . .thank you all who took the time to purge themselves of their past, sometimes very hurtful memories.

This has been such an amazing thread. I almost cried when I read a couple of them because I thought I was the only one who had this problem (turning over in bed, breaking a lawn chair).

This is a place I can find some comfort and friendship while I work on my weight and wait for WLS.

Thanks to all of you who have contributed.

Hi Debra. . .

I think that was the main reason Debralight and I elected to make this post.

When we were super morbidly obese we faced "challenges" that we didn't speak about, for what ever reasons, we faced these challenges alone. . .we thought them unique to us. . .our personal cross to bear.  Last evening we were comparing notes, it began with socks and then grew legs of its own. . .one by one we realized we shared many challenges. . .and knew that if we shared those struggles, there would be others who would chime in and ultimately as a group we would come to know that while our journey is unique to each person here the challenges are not. . .

You are not alone in your suffering, many have gone before you, many will come after you.  Sharing of knowledge, experience and understanding is free and yet. . . it is always the most valuable gift you give anyone.

I Soooo appreciate your post.

I certainly can relate to all of struggles on the list. I laughed at one about the socks because I have always told other people that I have difficulty getting socks on due to the osteo arthritis in my hip, when I know that ultimately it is because of my weight. Recently I went on a trip with girls, without my hubby. I was a little worried because he is used to helping me (put my sock on and helping out of chairs etc.) and What would I do without him? well I had a great trip but I did have to buy a Sock-Assist  to take with me. I could not ask someone else to put my socks on for me.
One of my worst struggles while away getting off the toilet in the motel room. The toilet was much lower than the one we have at home and so I had to take my cane into the bathroom with me and try to get up. It was a site to behold.

This wite has trully been a Gift, again thank you.

- having to get up in the middle of the night for an urgent pee, but almost peeing in your panties from trying to get off the bed (lifting your self mid sleeping!)

- Not being able to bring your kids to the public pool alone because you cannot use the stairs to get out of the pool and climbing the sides is completely out of questions

-  Being afraid of changing a light bulb (climbing on the chairs - no way!)

-Standing up the WHOLE afternoon, your legs hurting, at a friend because you don't fit in the chair, but won't tell cause you're too ashamed.  Pretending you have been sitting all day so now want to stand

-  Getting skin rashes under the boobs or the belly

-  shaving your arm pit

-  How to shave your bikini hair with only 2 hands?  One holding the razor, the other one holding the belly, hummmmmm no thank you!

-  joining a friend at a restaurant who chose a boot and you DON'T fit in it, no matter how badly you wish you would.  Having to ask for a table, but there are not any available so having to open a closed section of the restaurant to be able to sit at a table.

-  bending down to pick up small things

-  Being told at Penington store that they don't have a bra your size when this was the only store so far you could shop in

-  Someone said making love in the dark, I would personnally add:  making love in different position, and wanting to make love

-  being told that my daughter looks just like me :  please hell no!  She IS beautifull, she is nothing like me TODAY.

-  getting upset when my 6yo son drops something because I know I'll have to bend down to clean it, get up, get down again, etc....

- always sating no when they want to play tag cause mommy is tired (no need to say that I cannot run!)
