Finger Nails

Since having surgery 1 year ago, I am struggling with my attempt to have my nails grow.

they flake, split and have ridges running length wise. they just won't grow.   

anyone else, have this issue and what do you know?

How are your iron and zinc levels? Usually this means low iron or zinc (oh and Vitamin B)

I've never had an easy time growing nails, but i do know that they do reflect your nutritional  needs. Ask your dietitian when you see her next.

She said it could be due to anemia, but my iron levels as well as all other levels are perfectly fine.  

this has never been a problem before surgery, that is why it is kinda frustrating.  I guess going through surgery and the depletion of protein and everything else that has taken, this could be my side affect. 

I figure if we loose hair because of  the process,  maybe nails is in the same category, and maybe time will fix.   I know my hair is not back to its normal fullness.   I guess time heals all.  

Perhaps Biotin would help? It's supposed to be good for hair and nails. It's an oral supplement.

I am talking  Biotin to help with the hair thing - did nothing for my hair.  But my nails!!!!!   I cannot believe they're mine!!!  They are growing like crazy and aren't breaking!!!  Wow, can't believe it.
