Opti fast phase questions

I am going to begin by saying that I
1. called my centre and left a message for the dietician (no call back)
2. Read through all the information I received from clinic
3. searched in the search bar for previous post and could not find one that answered the questions I am about to ask but did answers ones I no longer need to ask.
So here goes
1. How much broth and SF jello are you allowed in one day?
2. and how do I get rid of this insane new habit of crying about everything ( I am assuming it will pass when I am not so hungry)

Hi,
I am in Ottawa, so any rules may be different than your centre. There was no limit to either broth or sf jello. My concern about broth was the sodium content, so I would limit my intake to 2 cups per day. I would have SF jello as a dessert at lunch, and broth as an afternoon snack and another SF jello for an evening snack.
Regarding the crying, you are losing weight and your body is releasing hormones that were saved in the fat cells. So between hormone overload and perhaps a bit of feeling like, I am missing foods that I used to eat (mourning period), it is perfectly understandable.
Good luck and keep drinking the sf, caffeine-free drinks. I found that really helped between shakes.

I believe the sugar free jello is just gelotine and sugar free juice, so eat whatever you want.
The broth I would only have 1 or 2 cups a day because even the low sodium ones have a lot of salt.
The Humber centre allowed green veggies, which I ate my allowed 2 cups throughout the day.
Optifast is no treat, but I am on day 7 of the post-op liquid phase and thats no fun either.
You have to look at the longterm picture, you will get through these stages and before you know it have a leaner healthier you. Well worth it....
PS....try to stay away from sad soppy movies, I watched My Sisters Keeper the other day and cried like a baby...........like a big baby.....

awwwww.... hugs, HH.
i'm not sure, but i think its unlimited broth and SF Jello.
the crying... you know its a combination of hunger, and the hormones being released from where they're stored in your fat, and all that. It'll pass, sweetie.. honestly it will. Try to get out for a walk in the nice weather.
Hugs. You can do this, stay strong.

Hi there,
I'm just in the same process as you are!! on my first week of 3 of optifast!! so far besides the optifast (4xday) I'm taking 2 or 3 no added sugar jello's a day and 1 to 3 cups of chicken/beef broth a day + 1 cup of decaf. It's very hard.....but I'm sure we're going to do it!!!
As far as I know, in St. Joes in Hamilton there is no limit on the quantity of jello/broth
God Bless and good luck!!
