Coming Down off the High: Post-Op Reality Setting In
I know exactly what you are talking about. The highs of the first year are gone. This is where the mental aspects are coming into play. No more big losses on the cake and constant reward of numbers going down, no more dropping sizes like crazy, compliments have come and gone, life is not as much about the loss anymore but the maintenance or self preservation mode.
Before I had my surgery, I would have kissed anyone a thousand times over for this size, this weight. Now it's never good enough for me. My life isn't perfect. I'm still not as outgoing or x (Fill in the blank) as I want to be. It didn't solve my eating or food issues. It's an on going journey I find --- just with different issues along the way.
Im working on more positive self messaging and trying to be happy with me now. I still agonize over ten pounds. Surely more than that defines me.. Whatever you are struggling with, find
Books, therapy Or just vent away to friends :-). Many of us deal with these issues as well. I think to honk that we are always a work in progress!
Hugs,
Dawn :-)
