Once i was home, i hardly had any pain, and was just using tylenol. I'd go as long as you did for your gallbladder, as long as you're comfortable. The biggest thing is to not let your pain get so bad its difficult to move. You want to keep yourself comfortable.

I think I'm an oddity - I had no pain at all - no pain meds in hospital (aside from Tylenol for a migraine from a nitro patch) & no pain meds at home.

For me it was almost 3 weeks. I had quite a bit of pain on the left side. Everyone is individual when it comes to pain. You want to keep it undercontrol. If you have a little ache and managing to move, walk, rest then you are probably ok. But if it starts to get stronger to the point where it  is affecting your ability to move walk eat then take something. You can take plain tylenol too.
The trick with pain meds is to take before it gets bad. Then you dont need as much. Don't be afraid to take it if you need it.

I took them for 4 days morning and night and then only at night for 2 days.  My left side still hurts but the pain meds were so gross that I can wait it out,

Hi Brenda,

They sent me home with a script for 30 Percocets but I only took them for 3 days, decreasing the dosage & cutting them in half as time passed. Now I'm back on just Tramacet which I take every day for my chronic back pain - don't need any type of pain relief for my sleeve. Hope all's well with you, kiddo!

I had very severe incisional pain on my right side starting about 3 or 4 days post-op for which I took 2 extra strength Tylenol about every 6 hours for a few days then I slowly weaned myself off them.
