On the Back of Yesterday's Post: How a complete stranger can change your perspective!

So, after being in a rotten mood yesterday morning, I decided to go out on one more shopping trip. I found myself in the Joe Fresh section of the Superstore. I looove their stuff. Anyhow, I was looking at a really cute dress; navy, embroidered cotton, with a retro feeling to it. The sales lady came and asked if I needed help finding a size. I asked for a 14, and she stopped what she was doing and politely told me there was no way I was a 14. She pulled out a 10 and handed it to me- and I snickered. Well...surprise, surprise. It fit like a glove. "No...you're definitely not a 14." she said with a smile. Aside from all of the very encouraging posts I had gotten earlier that day, this was exactly what I needed; one comment from a perfect stranger who could see clearly what I could not. I found myself telling her how I had lost 156 pounds in the last year and a half, and how I still have trouble judging clothing sometimes. (TMI for a total stranger probably), but this whole thing is such a head trip sometimes. I'm wearing my size 10 today, feeling renewed, and ready to get back to the battle. :) Sigh....retail therapy really works! hahaha

I was in a bit of a funk a few days ago, Marny, same kind of issues. Size 12 skinny jeans did it for me, and a saleslady who told me that i could "do" them.

You and Monica have found great sales people recently, I envy your luck.

I'm glad you feel better too.  It's amazing how one little thing can change our moods.

Cathy, I think part of it is that they're trying to make a sale, but when they hand you a smaller size, and they're right, its the craziest feeling in the world. I choose to believe that they want you to look good, so won't lie to you too badly about how you look in things. Otherwise, you'll tell them "oh yeah, i got this outfit at Soozy's", and people look at you and you look like crap and then say to themselves "i am NEVER shopping there". So its in their best interest to be as honest as they can be, and still make the sale. So, if i didnt look ok in these jeans, she could have showed me something else on the sales rack, and she didnt.

You'll find them. And they LOVE stories like ours, about how we were trapped in the land of fatitude, and bought a one way ticket out of there. They're so helpful when you tell someone in a good store something like that (note to you, do not try this at, like, wal mart or zellers), they just fall all over you to help you with tips and tricks about how to work what looks good on you.

First of all WTG Marny, I bet you look awesome in it!

Monica, they are definitely trying to make sales, but they know their stuff and I'm sure realize, that if they give you something too small that it will make you feel bad, so do there very best to get the right (smallest size) KWIM?  You own your skinny jeans, lady :)

Many, that's wonderful. I'm so happy to hear someone was able to help you? I bet you're rocking that size 10.

Have a great long weekend
