I missed that post yesterday Marny, and here's my similar experience. I went to Reitmans (where vanity sizing is at it's best lol), and I was trying on skirts that have a bit of stretch in them. Anyhow, I grabbed a few, because I still have no idea of my size. The first one I tried on fit. When I looked at the size, I was in complete shock. Size 2!! Again, stretchy and Reitman's, but still. Anyhow I literally stood there with my mouth open, checking and re-checking the size a few times in the three-way mirror. The sales lady came by and asked if I was ok, and I said, "I just can't believe it's a size 2!" And she was sympathetic and said, "Oh. We're you a zero before?" I laughed and said, 'Uh no like 20-22." She didn't know what to say to that....except. "Oh my GOD!"

Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!

Wow- size 2. Unimaginable! What a great feeling that must have been! I think I would have trimmed off the tag and sewed it to the outside of the skirt where everyone could see it! haha

I still don't "get it" actually. Because of all the extra skin and such. Waiting for this body dysmorphia thing to catch up with my head.

that's freaking crazy!!!!! i love it, she must have thought she was going to have to do some hard core self esteem building because you gained 5 lbs or something.

She totally did. I think she was ready to hug me.

Trust me, I never EVER thought at 135 pounds I would be in a size 2. I thought the lowest I would ever see is an 8. I think it's because i'm short maybe? Who knows? I thought only people who are like under 120 were size 2.

I love playing with people's heads like that. There's a picture of me in the place where we're rehearsing (i think i told this story before on here, but oh well), i was in a play at my near highest weight. ONe of the other ladies in the play we're currently in says "weren't you in that, where are you", i pointed myself out, and she says to me "how'd they make your face look so puffy", (i'm sure she thought it was a cool make up trick). Till i told her i lost 135 lbs.

yeah, i know what you mean about sizes. My personal goal is a size 10. (it used to be 12, but since i got here, i think 10 would be reasonable) which i haven't been in my entire adult or adolescent life. I got married at a size 16 (went up to 24, or higher, i stopped buying at 24, but probably could have worked a 26).

I can't see myself getting smaller than a 10, but, hearing your story, maybe. Just maybe a stretchy 6 or 8? weird. Hard to get my head around that one. Really hard.

What theatre group are you with? I do theatre too. I just did Hairspray in the Fall, and people couldn't pick me out in the cast lol

Huronia Players, in Midland. We're doing Our Town. The group has been around for 50 years, and we've got a brand new theatre! We've been doing some fundraising, and got an extremely generous donation from a local businessman. It's called the Midland Cultural Centre, and its totally totally totally cool. The building is going to house an art gallery, and an event hall, but our portion of it is this 125 seat theatre, with all the bells and whistles.

I've just got a small part, i'm in the choir, and i have a walk on, but i'm just happy to be part of it all!!! (i get to wear two different costumes, which was a whole NSV on its own, the last time i was in a play they had to make me a dress, cuz none of the costumes fit me. THis time, i just put the freaking things on and they fit with minor tweaking. THat is AWESOME!!)

Cool! I love my theatre group. We could use a new theatre!! Before Hairspray I did Titanic in April 2010. So the costume ladies still had my measurements. They were in shock when they measured me again last summer lol!
