 Hi there,

I'm only on day 2 of Opti...I'll be honest...yesterday (Day 1) was not good.  I wasn't sure I could even get through day 1 when I noticed that the first half of the drink tasted close enough to chocolate milk to be fooled...but the last several gulps did not taste like chocolate milk...not even close.  I tried flavouring it with sugar-free Kool-Aid and that was NOT GOOD.  Finally last night I tried putting cold decaf coffee into it...well thank you to the person who mentioned that on this forum because praise the lord, it worked!  That actually tasted like coffee instead of that other taste that I can't even describe.  I also tried a sugar-free hazelnut syrup from Torani and that isn't half bad either...so today is going a little better and I know I can handle the taste now.  But the HUNGER....oh my...I had to cook dinner for my family last night and it was very hard because of my own hunger.  I've already had two shakes today (trying to space them out) and one sugar-free jello and I'm still hungry.  I remember being told at the information session that the feelings of hunger will lessen or go away after a certain amount of time....I think they said after 3-4 days??  Is this true?  Did any of you experience a lessening of the hunger after being on Opti for a few days?  If so, how long?  I know that I can get through this, but I also know it will be easier if I don't feel so HUNGRY all the time! LOL...Also, I'm thinking my first weekend on nothing but Opti will be a challenge.  I'm in it for the long haul and keep reminding myself why I'm doing this....but I wanted to get a feel for how long it took for the feelings of hunger to diminish...even a bit.

Thanks for any info/input you have!!

things will get better . Stay busy, i did a lot of puttering, tidying, getting out of the house when ever i can.  I'm on day 8, and to be honest i prefer the shakes plain, ice water and magic bullet.  Drink lots of water and other clear sugar free fluids, when ever a hunger pang strikes, drinlk. i have also found that sugar free popsicles have helped.  good luck

By the way i notice your screan name is sliver lake, is that the one on hwy7 between sharbot lake and perth?  I'm just west of there!!

Hey there, glad you found ways to get used to Opti.  The hunger will go away, make sure you are drinking lots of water in between shakes.  I was alternating shakes and 500 mL of water.  That helps curb the hunger.  And I'd have Jello at night.  Maybe so that you can feel you are "eating" with your family, time a jello or shake for supper time.  If you don't want to try that, try timing your shake for while you are cooking supper, then you can sip it as you cook, lessen the temptation.

If cooking is too much for a few days, maybe get your family to cook for themselves.  It may not be your cooking, but then you can be out of the kitchen.

Cathy

P.S. My first weekend of Opti included 3 dinner parties (well, one breakfast) , and telling my in-laws what I was doing as I had to explain my new "diet" and I got though it, so you can too!  Just keep yourself busy.

Thanks for the help!  I will definitely need to up my water intake...and I'm happy to hear the hunger does go away.  If you made it through 3 dinner parties, then I'm hoping I will be ok too!  I have two birthdays coming up, so it will be a challenge!
Good idea to time the shake for when I'm cooking dinner...I think that might actually help with the temptation!  I will try that!
