Day 4 of Opti

Made it through my first 3 days! And wow, is this ever hard. Day 1 was hard, day 2 was harder but now it doesn't seem so bad. A lot of my hunger pangs are gone (except for the ones this morning) and I am down 10.5 lbs!! The weight loss has been really motivating. I know it's now the focus but the thought that I could be under 300 lbs before surgery is really helping me along (just 4 more lbs to go)

The chocolate isn't too bad, the vanilla is just awful. I read so many people say it was awful but I still bought half and half, I was worried I wouldn't like the chocolate. This morning I blended up some instant coffee (decaffeinated of course) with the vanilla and it's not too bad! Really cuts the sweetness. Thanks goodness there are so many recipes and tips on this forum. I think I started out on the right foot with them.

For a while I had trouble getting all the shakes down. I lived somewhere between nausea and hunger. Now they are getting a lot easier. My big problem the first day is that I was treating them like a "meal" and trying to get them in within 20-30 minutes and it just wasn't happening. I was really frustrated. Now I shake them up and sip away, and they are gone when they are gone. Closer to 40 mins-1 hour to get them in. If that's what it takes, that's fine.

It's funny, I was so worried about taking them at work. I didn't want anyone to know and I was worried about choking them down in front of everyone. Actually, I ended up telling some of my coworkers about both the surgery and why the opti is necessary and they have been really supportive. And the shakes are easier to get down at work! I make em up on my coffee break and just sip, sip, sip until they are gone. Then I have my allowed veggies at lunch time.

Good luck to everyone else on opti now or who has it coming up! Keep your eyes on the prize! It's all for a reason

for vanilla,,, use strawberry banana  crystal lite or   cherry pomegranate (sp)  crystal lite

strawberry banana ,, makes it taste like a strawberry milkshake....

these two were my absolute fav...

and tomorrow is my last day ... on it for 3 weeks.

Must be so nice to have it coming to and end. I can't wait to be where you are. Good luck with your surgery!

I did try the strawberry banana crystal lite but it made it sickeningly sweet. It was so sweet I could only manager a few sips and couldn't finish the rest. I'm going to get some cocoa today to try that in the vanilla as well. If I don't find anything other than the instant coffee to make the vanilla better, that will be fine. I finished my shake up this morning and really wasn't too bad at all.

I added decaf to the vanilla as well. It really cut the sweetness.

Whatever it takes, chickie! You can do this!!
