Joyce for sure, Mary Lou, Karen Graham, ...... I think that's all I can remember, it was so long ago! lol There were others though - their names escape me at the moment.

I also think many vets moved on, but I feel that several left due to struggles with maintenance, agreed.

I have always said if you ask for an honest opinion you  have to remember to accept it as just that (an opinion)

...although with that in mind I do my very best to remember that if it's a newbie asking or telling us about a slip up...we have all been there

ADVICE should ALWAYS be tempered with COMPASSION~!!

prior to surgery 323lbs....4 years post-op maintaining between 108- 114 lb loss.

life is AMAZING when you continue on the right path~!.  Use your surgeons gift to the fullest~!

Ah, the good old days, like two weeks ago!  LOL  JK

I can not imagine anyone coming to this board except to see what newbie idiots like me ask and what "old" vets say to the posts.  I am sorry I don't have time to always search old posts, so I apologize for repeating previously asked questions.  But, having said that, the old posts may have been answered by other vets before current information is available, so I post to recieve current info, as older info may not be still valid.

I thank you "old" vets for your time and appreciate your responses, with or without a cranky tone!  LOL  Regards, Ian

We are very lucky on the Ontario board to have so much experience!  There are so many people that I wonder about that I really came to care about (where the hell are you Mountain Mike? and many, many others) and disappeared, but so grateful that others have stuck around.  Like you say, Karen, we need this too and get as much out of it as newbies!

I found the advice and posts by the "vets" invaluable....without all of your words of wisdom and knowledge i am not sure i would have felt as comfortable in embarking on this journey or as been successful as i have been 8 months post op......many thanks....and maybe we are lucky because our "ontario vets" are so amazing!

Thanks for the repost Karen. . .nearly three years out I guess I am getting a bit long in the tooth.  Certain newbies have chased me away from giving advice on public forum, although I am still quite active in the PM enviroment.

I see potential in a number of todays "newbies" as people to whom the torch can be passed and then there are others. . .the ones who wanted it sugar coated, couched and delivered with a bow.

As many have often said, advice is not always a pat on the back, a there there you are doing the best you can, warm puppies and pink puddles. . .sometimes advice is calling a spade a spade, not a shovel and if that gets me a parking place for my broom then so be it.

 Well writing.

vets are the core support of the OH, If one feels that they don't like the answer they get throw it away or do some research and pick the best answer.

I keep the vets in my book, they just as good as gold.

Who best to ask but who as already done it.

Well folks, I may be a real newbie here (waiting for RNY), but I am not a life newbie! I am almost 60 and have a great deal of respect for experience so, to the vets...... please know that most of us just cannot tell you how much we appreciate your wisdom. Thank you so very much.
I can pray for the same success as you have had and hope that one day I can provide answers to those who will follow me.

I put forth my two cents worth:  I read the comments and opinions left here and take from them what I need to know and need to learn and find that everyone is so truthful and real.  One of the best parts of this whole process has been to have found this site and read the comments and advice from the newbie to the vet.

The thoughts here represent an invaluable source of information, humour and downright common sense and I would not be so comfortable in my decision process if I did not have this wealth of support.  So keep the em coming and I hope that I can be helpful in my experience for the next one too!  Remember the golden rule
