I would have loved for ANY of that to have happened. Believe it or not, my parents are extremely polite and conservative. Can you tell I'm adopted??!! LOL!

Are you adopted? I am. My mom is super-clean, and that's how I know I am.

Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!

Yep! My mother is also super-clean. My last boyfriend's comment was something like, "Boy, you sure aren't like your mom" (meaning house cleaning). LOL!! I was like.... "Duh.. I'm adopted.". haha

That was my excuse (err...still is) for a lot of things. Big time nature versus nuture in our family. My brother is adopted too, and so different from me....not just looks.

Very seriously, my parents are quiet, reserved, polite...... whereas I am extremely outgoing, impulsive, liberal.... so very opposite in many ways. Thankfully they were able to instill their wonderful values in me, or I'd be lost. I remember having a debate with my father at dinner one evening when I was about 10 years old. I finally stopped speaking, looked him in the eye, and said, "Don't worry, Dad. I don't know where I came from either." LOL!!

I also have a brother, not related by blood, who is very different than I am, though we do look very similar and VERY much like my father's side of the family. He's a total jock. I was the actress/musician.

That's funny. My brother and I had similar looks when we were kids, but we don't look like anyone now. And my kids look like blonde versions of their dad. My brother was the jock too, and me the actress/musician. LOL

Too funny!

My son looks EXACTLY like his father (except for his eyes and colouring, which are mine). The odd thing is though, when he came to stay with me for a couple of months recently, I looked at him one day and thought, OMG for some reason as he's aging, he's starting to look more like me! That handsome young man! hahaha

I thank gawd that he's built like his father and not me, however. He's 6'1" and slim. Better than being like his mom and being 5'4" and obese! lol

Totally understand I would feel the same. Always sacrificing time away from each other sucks. My husband use to work over night and me on the day shift. That's a recipe for loneliness and missing your loved ones badly. Thoughts are with you your not alone
