I am going to reply in case SHirley is gone LOL.. Her daughter is MFIslandgirl on here and they are from Moose Factory and she is going through the SUdbury Assessment Centre and she is having surgery at St. Joes Toronto (with Dr. SUllivan I THINK) I met her here in Sudbury last time she was up! They are both super nice ladies :) I am glad to have met them

that's awesome! So glad to hear that this surgery is accessible to people so far away. I think the Bariatric program is amazing!! here in ontario, anyway!

I apologize in advance, and will blame this on the fact that I am on the KCC pouch test and thus am severly carb-deprived - but I can't help it!  When I read Moose Factory , I immediately pictured a buch of moose standing on an assembly line conveyer belt    Can you just imagine!!!

Sorry!  The picture won't leave my brain.

Thank you all for your kind remarks but Jen is the great one in this journey..she is so brave and determined to get everything out of life that she can....I am the one hanging on for dear life...I have said if I am still living after her surgery we will be doing good!!!..Momma don't do well seeing her Baby in pain....but that too will past and I'm excited to see her embark on the rest of her awesome life!!

I'm a newbie, and lurked a long time before I started joining conversations.... I too am shy and usually a listener anyway.

So far, I have had a very nice experience with this board.  I was afraid at first because I hear that there can be some real nasties out there... I don't see any in Ontario !!!
Still too shy to put in my name though... hopefully in time (maybe after surgery)

You don't have to post your name at all!  Be as anonymous as you want. I've noticed you starting to join in and I'm glad!

Don't worry about not using your name.  I also don't.  Not because I don't trust the lovely people here (I've met some of them in person at one meet up - keep hoping to get to another one!), but because I don't trust the rest of the interwebs with my personal health info!

I decided when I first started reading this forum that if I participate, I would either make the choice between using my real name and not posting much, or using an alias and feeling free to be very open about my experiences.  It was a pretty easy choice for me.

That said, more power to the many people who do use their real names and pictures here!  I've always wondered whether people might feel a little less trusting of those of us who don't use our names or pictures.  But everyone has been very welcoming and helpful ever since I jumped in last year.  (I can't believe it's been over a year!  I still kind of feel like a newbie too!)

Welcome!

Thank you for asking and this is a pefect way of making the newbies (I am an embryo; still waiting to hear about my date for orientation) feel welcome by asking these questions!

I read because you all have such interesting  and similar stories and it makes me feel like I am not alone!!!
