Timelines?

Hi:  My GP confirmed that a referral had been submitted August 14, 2012.  I live in Pickering Ontario.  Does anyone have any idea how long before I can hear if/when I can go for orientation?  Also any idea which centre I would probably be referred to?  Just curious.  Thanks!

Thanks for the quick response.  I found out it's Humber.  I just can't wait to start to feel better.  It's only been recently that I found out this is covered by OHIP.  I've done a TON of research and feel this is the best solution for me and just pray that I'm accepted.  Oh well...one step at a time. 

Humber is the fastest centre out there, so it's great news that this is your centre!  I've seen people have surgery within 6 months of being referred. 

You shouldn't have issues with acceptance, as long as you meet the BMI criteria and go through all aspects of the process without issues (nutrition, psycologist, social worker, nurse).

OH, I MOST DEFINITELY meet the BMI!!  My GP is very supportive.  She's referred 4 people.  One dropped out of the program.  One didn't pass they psych. evaluation and the other 2 are success stories. 

I'm  60 years old which is a concern, but I'm hoping they will still accept me.  I am SOOO hopeful that I will be accepted.  I feel like I've failed so many times at weightloss.  Now that I have a baby grand daughter I want to be able to see her grow up, I want to be able to play with her.  I want to climb the stairs like a "normal" person...not one stair at a time.  I want to have energy.   I want to feel good about myself.  I'll just keep watching the mail and praying.  (I assume that's how they contact you)

Hello , I just started the process myself and it has gone supper fast for me, just show interest and they will respond back!! I would call them to confirm receiving your referall , I did and got a call the next day with orieintation date!!!
