Thanks for getting it, Karen. (... and thanks for posting your old avatar.)
The old me will always exist - just in a different physical form. I just don't ever want to forget where I've come from - if that makes any sense at all...
I used my before pic all yesterday and had people PMing me all day asking if OH had made an error. LOL!
I changed it to a different photo now. :)

Karen, I didn't see this thread until now, but I did see your avatar change the other day. I didn't have to read this thread to "get it" - I knew exactly what that was all about. Especially since we were talking in another thread about not forgetting or disowning the large people we used to be before losing weight. (The large person I still am, since I haven't had surgery yet.)
Just letting you know that I saw, understood, and appreciated!

Shame is a real part of it. I don't dwell on it, by any means, but I don't want to forget those feelings, either. I think holding on to some of the negative will keep me more honest with myself. Let's be frank, I don't ever want to go back to needing two airplane seats to travel. That being said, I think I am essentially the same person when you look beyond the physical. I am still kind and thoughtful. (Though I am MUCH more outgoing and adventurous now!)
Thanks for your comments. ![]()
