RnY going out of style?

Had RnY 8 years ago, and have not gained an ounce, but i have heard that it is going out of favor for newer stuff?  Is this true?  What are you guys offered? Is OHIP paying only for RnY?

Thanks.

I had RNY almost 7 years ago and have maintained wonderfully as well.  Many people are opting for other surgeries, yes. They are better informed than we were so many years ago and have more choices.  OHIP will cover RNY and if medically appropriate will also cover Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy and Duodenal Switch. Unfortunately, patients seem to have to make a case for themselves for the latter two I mentioned.  Lap Band continues to be self pay.

I had RNY in July 2010 and know several people who have had it here in Ottawa covered by OHIP as recently as January of this year. RNY was the only one covered in my case but not sure if that is province-wide or still the only one covered.

RNY is considered the gold standard.

Those like myself who have a reason for a VSG will go that route.

I don't know about anyone else but my RNY was so stylish I had to get an accessory frou frou dog just to go out with it.
