I had a Gastroplasty in 2001 and lost about 75 ponds.  Over the years I have gained some weight and lost some.  I am now back to my pre surgery weight.  Very depressing.  I'm thinking of trying Optifast to lose this weight again, hopefully for the last time.  Just wondering how successful others have been using Optifast.

I did the OptiFast program 3 years ago, and have gained the weight back, over the past three years. I know some people that were in my group, gained their weight back, almost immediately after we were finished the core group. I would do it again, but I truly think it's "temporary fix".

Have you considered being referred to the Bariatric Registry and then once you are seen by a doctor at a Bariatric Centre they could assess you to determine if your original surgery is still intact (i.e. no mechanical failure) or if you need a revision.

If you know that you still have restriction, and it is just your eating and/or exercise program that is off, then you know what to do.  Unfortunately, surgery is not a magic fix, it is a tool that must be used properly with a life long lifestyle change to maintain weight loss.

Good luck.
