Hi folks.

I just found this site via google and have been browsing for about an hour and had to join.

I'm so glad I found this, my journey only started a month ago inquiring about gastric bypass options with my family doctor, and in 4 short weeks I've had my referral done, and attended the info session. Tomorrow I'm meeting with the nutritionist, social worker and my surgeon (Dr Starr)

It's all happening very fast, and as I'm sure a lot of you are aware there are a lot of emotions involved with surgery. Of course I'm excited to have a new lease on life. I'm also nervous, I'm sure that's common as well. What if I'm one of those scary statistics that we hear about? I have a little girl, and potential complications worry me I'm sure she'd rather have a fat mama than none at all. lol. But overall, I feel ok with the process, and just thought I'd introduce myself since I imagine I'll be spending quite a bit of time here over the next little while :)

Welcome to the board.  May I ask what hospital you're going through?

Welcome to the forum.  You will find lots of valuable information here.  Plus you will see folks asking questions about their current problem......please always remember that there are others not posting about how things are going so well.  Folks with issues need answers.

I prepared an updated will and powers of attorney before surgery.  That way I knew that if for some reason I wasn`t coming back home, things would be taken care of.  As you can see I am still here! (surgery Dec 2011).

Thank you Judy, that's we're smart about the will. My biggest concern is what would happen to my daughter in any event.

I will definitely have to put a will in place
