If I choose to remove the band, I will not be getting another one. I know not many bandsters post here but I got my original band when Allergan was still Inamed and had the one called the VG. I never had a love/hate relationship with it, I always loved it. Fast forward 3.5 years and I ended up with a hiatal hernia that needed to be repaired. No problem, band was still properly placed, no slip or anything and my band surgeon said he would fix it and being the nice guy that he is and no I am not being sarcastic, he said that he would put in the new band even though there was nothing wrong with my old band. They had had some issues with the old bands so when he suggested it, I of course trusted him and had my old VG removed and had my new AP installed at no extra cost over the initial $16k I paid. It was hell and then some with that band. I had issue after issue with it and my band surgeon did what he could to find me an old VG but no luck so we went with the larger AP band thinking it would resolve things. It did work for awhile and then the same old issues came back so I have been completely defilled for over a year now as the minute I get any fill I get esophageal spasms. I have had some regain but most of that was due to medication. Since I have been off those meds, I pretty much maintain but can't seem to lose the pounds I did gain on the meds.
I will never go back to where I was so if a revision is needed I will get one. My choice would be VSG only because I did so well with restriction only plus I have fibromyalgia and some days only Advil cuts it for pain. I have a huge family history of Crohn's, lupus, RA, so am not prepared to not be able to take Nsaids for the next 50 years. Yes my family lives into their 90's and 100's so I fully expect to be around that long too.
Wow. I didn't know all of that. Congrats for pushing through everything you've gone through!
