Diva cups and surgery
Um... Two different brands... I am only mentioning this because one is latex and one is silicone.
The keeper is latex (though they now have something called a mooncup which is silicone they didn't have those easly accessible when I looked at them).
Diva cup is silicone (corn and latex allergy friendly). Diva are more supple too.
There are other brands too... there is actually a wordpress blog dedicated to reviewing the various ones from around the world.
Best investment I ever made though!
But they told me no even for a minor surgery. Just ask the PATT nurse. They will know for your OR location. I pushed hard to use mine and still was told no because even though TSS wasn't a risk... No one was going fishing if I wasn't able to do it myself basically, but they can and will change a pad.
They don't mind post op... When you've come to... If you CAN be all bendy and flexible to make it work but not during.
Oh and hold off on shopping unless you have to. They will provide pads at the hospital. As well as you can ask for those blue and white pads so... Mesh undies with the blue and white pad. Then the kotex type they supply... Gives a fair amount of coverage.
Personally, I wouldn't bother. (BTW, love Diva Cups more than Keepers - silicone all the way!)
I had my period during surgery. It was no big deal. I used a couple of overnight pads in their little mesh undies (which stretch like crazy), and it was just fine.
Besides, I don't know how big you are or how flexible, but I would have had a REALLY hard time changing it while in the hospital. The first day and night, I had to have help wiping myself after going to the bathroom, that's how sore and inflexible I was. First time in my adult life I've had to have someone do that, but it's quick, matter-of-fact, and that's what the nurses are there for. By the time I left the hospital, I was easily able to wipe myself and change a maxipad, but I don't think I could have been flexible enough to insert something into my vagina!
Just my thoughts.
