Hi folks,

I was just "chit chatting" with a woman on the RNY forum who suffers terribly from RH.  She mentioned that a doctor prescribed a medication called ACARBOSE, which slows the digestion of carbs in your system.  It has worked WONDERFULLY for her. Has anyone heard of this or tried it?

Just wanted to share!

Karen

Edited to add:  This lovely lady has also emailed me some excellent info and advice for post-op RNY patients who suffer from RH.  If you would like the PDF, just PM me your email and I will happily send it to you. :)

Apparently it's typically used to treat Type 2 diabetes, but has been very successful in helping WLS patients with RH.

Interesting. I find that i'm doing well with managing my RH with diet. I keep a close eye on my sugars before I work out and after, if needed. I think that if it got out of control, even with eating properly every two hours, then I would look into it.

Is it the PDF from Joslin or somewhere else?   Most of us can control it by diet.  Worst case scenario - pancreas parts removed.

Sorry whats RH??

" Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, a bag of chips in one hand, glass of wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO what a ride".
