Marny, I tried to get mine lowered..but because I still have sleep apnea, my rates are staying the same.   I was very disappointed.  Patti K.

that's a good point, if you're expecting any meds or medical conditions to go away because you're not morbidly obese anymore you should be waiting about a year before applying.  ie. your blood pressure normalizes and you don't need any bp meds anymore.

Hi there you need to maintain your weight for one year. I'm assuming you mean life insurance. Depending on your medical conditions over the years. There may be a small rating probably 150 percent

My only piece of advise would be from a legal perspective - answer every question asked 100% truthfully or your family may be denied benefits if something were to happen.  Some companies ask for a lot of history, others don't depending on your age, etc. Don't leave anything out to try and make yourself more insurable (not that you were planning on doing that). Same goes for travel insurance - they almost want to find a way not to cover you. I think you should be able to get coverage now and not have to pay a fortune either.  Shop around as prices vary as to type of coverage and amounts.  Check out the Ontario Financial Services Commissions website for feedback on the various insurers.
