I'm asking because I always take vitamins everyday anyways and should I continue them while on Opti or not?

I did optifast from nov. 8th until nov. 28th and my surgery was nov. 29th at TWH and I started mine when I got home on dec. 1st. What does your hospital say? Yes they are "built it".

I was told NOT to take vitamins while on opti as it was a complete nutritional replacement. If you have special needs though ask your clinic directly.

Oh I have "special" needs alright.  Vitamins aren't gonna help me though!

Opti should be enough... If you have vit D/ B12/iron problems speak to your nurse be aware that any vit C can cause an increase chance of kidney stones

Call and ask about that. It depends on what kind of vitamins but it's usually more about meds than vites?

I took all my usual vitamins/medications while on Opti.

Different places have different rules

Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional.

At the pre-op education class that was given just before surgery, this topic was covered.  We were told to stop taking any vitamins as Optifast provided what you need.

some vitamins are also mild blood thinners - so they want us to stop taking extra vitamins. If you have a specific concern check with your center and or surgeon.

I have been taking vitamins and minerals for years and I just took them like normal while on Opti I never asked and they all knew I was taking them--I figured no harm no foul- I just honestly never  thought to ask if it was ok...
