and my RNY story comes to an end..
I went into my first appointment today, Audrey took my measurements, than sat me down to tell me that with my BMI under 40 and no co-morbs, I don't qualify for bariatric surgery...you know, I was actually a little relieved that I didn't have to yet a bit disappointed cause I had my mind set as to going through it. The changes I have made in my lifestyle from January (when I was referred) to now, have helped me lose 30 lbs! Even when I went on the scale there and saw that I had lost 4 lbs since I weighed myself last week, gave me a sense of joy and pride. I was told that I could always be re-referred if I did find myself above BMI 40, also that I may qualify for that new program coming in the spring?? I did still go to the dietician and she was very helpful, very encouraging too...if I can find a way to increase my exercise, I may just do this on my own, all bet quite a bit slower, but, time will tell, eh? I plan on staying on this forum, if that's all right with everyone as I think it's a place of great support and information...I wouldn't have made the changes I have without being on here. I already canceled my sleep study as they said it wasn't necessary anymore. All the best to those just starting out, in the process, already on the bench, and to those who've made this tool work for them for their lifetime!!
Merry Christmas!!

Moving on doesn't mean you forget about things. It just means you have to accept what happened and continue LIVING
You can do it! Keep up the amazing work. I was in the same boat myself and lost 60 lbs prior to surgery. I had a bmi of 37.7 at time of surgery with no co-morbidities..they said they go by your starting referral weight at TWH anyways, since I figured they were going to cancel my surgery as well. Keep up the great work, enjoy your christmas!

Congratulations on your weight loss and progress.
It's healthier to lose it slowly through lifestyle. I would NOT do the optifast program, as that just sets you up for regain. I think you should continue what you are doing now.

I just wonder if you shouldn't have kept the appointment for the sleep study? Although it is not necessary, if you do have sleep apnea then the CPAP may help you out (and even save your life,) if you are like others carrying extra weight. I am glad that you were still able to meet with the dietician, I think they are the most valuable resource.
Good luck and please do stay around, I think I can speak for everyone that you are always welcome here, surgery or not!
