Morning all

Going to keep this fairly short and sweet (haha... if I can, that is) as my patents' antiquated computer is giving me fits. Tracey thank you for texting and updating everyone and to everyone else - thank you SO much for your well-wishes. I sure has meant a lot to me. I've missed you guys and I think I'm in OH withdrawal. And by "I" I'm sure you know I meant "it" - this damned computer won't let me correct spelling either. LOL

So, the long and short of it is this. Had an open hysterectomy and a panniculectomy on January 24th. The GYN was to leave the ovaries and cervix but unfortunately my rather invasive fibroids had been pressing down on the cervix and it was basically obliterated, so he just took it. Oh well, at least I have my ovaries! I had the panni with a plastic surgeon once the GYN was finished. I did not see the man prior to, after or even during my 5 day hospital stay. Didn't even call to see how I was doing. What I will say about the panni is that it had damn well be VERY swollen cuz it looks like I had nothing done. GRRR. Will be making an appointment to see him early next week. I swear to gawd, I did not go through this hell to look the same as I did prior. Anyway... it is definitely swollen like crazy. And sore. I've managed to have only a couple of Percs since yesterday, so things are looking up.

I was doing really well and they were planning to let me go home on Saturday. Friday afternoon I started feeling crappy and tests showed that my blood pressure had dropped significantly and my hemoglobin tanked from 138 to 59. They did an ultrasound, CT scan, 2 blood transfusions as it appears that I had an internal bleed that has managed to fix itself, thank gawd. MUCH better the past couple of days I'm happy to report. I'm up and walking and climbing stairs, etc.

I've completely lost my appetite and am having trouble even forcing myself to eat, but working very hard on that. I'm drinking water like crazy, which is a good thing. Everything else feels good, my incision looks good and I have some energy this morning!

I am SO ready to go home - I miss Bryan and Kirby and just want to be in my own space with my own "stuff". So, I guess I'm off for the next 6 weeks or so which will be interesting in itself. Looking forward to it!

Thank you again for your kind words. Happy Wednesday!

Karen XOXOXO

Glad to hear you are out of hospital and doing much better. Please take nice and slow and I'm sure that Bryan will take great care of you.

Your recovery will go much smoother when you are home, remember to follow the surgeon's instructions and you should have a great outcome.

Get lots of rest and take care of yourself

Glad you're back and on the mend. Surely it's swelling that will go down in time. I read somewhere that the true results aren't evident for around 6 months (but what do I know!). Never would have thought swelling would take so long to go down.

Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora.  Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.

Oh Karen - I haven't been on much, and had missed this ENTIRELY.  God speed to a quick recovery!

A panni - how exciting!  Although at first it was the saggy arms / legs / butt / face that bothered me, after 2 years it seems to be the droopy belly that frustrates me the most.  I'm sure you will be pleased with the result, and I understand that the swelling is significant for quite a while.  So sorry you had to go through so much post-op though.

All the best, and keep us posted.  Looking forward to seeing you at the next "Clarkson Lunch".  Sorry I had to miss the last one!
