Can I ask how long it took for the Hernia to be discovered and/or develop after surgery?  What type of symptoms did you have?

mine was a hernia in the diaphragm. Initially I thought I had an ulcer. I had severe chest pain that radiated into my right shoulder. The pain became worse when I lay down. In fact I spent the three months before my surgery sleeping in a chair. I was coevinced at one point that I had atypical heart pain. It wasn't' until I had a laparoscopy that they realized the source of my pain was a hiatus hernia. The diagnosis was confirmed by a
barium swallow

How long did you put up with the symptoms before seeking medical attention and how long did it take to diagnose your hiatus hernia and was any or all that done by bariatric surgeons?

I had been battling GERD from HELL since the original surgery. My GI guy in Hamilton who followed my inflammatory bowel disease actually specialsizes in GERD and was managing the GERD with s ****tail of PPI's H2 inhibitors and other mend to promote digestion and speed transit through the GI tract . 2011 I started having nocturnal refuge which lead to numerous aspiration pneumonia (4 in that first year). I had knee surgery last March. The anesthesiologist had to use fibre optics to intubate. He called Hagen in to the OR to show him how eroded my esophagus was. When I approached Hagen regarding my suspicions that I had an ulcer he replied if I did I was already on all the ulcer meds there are to take. Went back to GI who played with the ****tail and added prescription strength maalox and suggested to Hagen he might consider a CT scan and laparoscopy. That was Easter and again Hagen saw no reason to scope.

Hagen was in Hamilton in late summer for some symposium my GI Guy was there too GI guy asked why he was trying to kill me. He tried to pull the "I had no idea you were having issues and I whistled the B.S. song. I was finally scoped in September.

Once it was confirmed I was scheduled for elective surgical repair 3 months later. I waited in fear that the entire stomach could incarcerate in my chest in which case I would need a cardiothoracic surgeon and would likely lose my stomach.

short answer too long directly related to medical mismanagement, IMHO

You're way more patient than me. Hagen? is an asshole. I'd be up his ass with a mal practise suit. Especially being that you have so much proof.

Glad you're better though but next time ***** SLAP Hagen into reality or fire him totally.

That is a complete horror story and I agree.

I'\ll bring you a Timmies next time I'm in that joint

hugs kiddo .. get well soon.
