Good Morning!

Glad to hear that your drains are all out Kelly-Girl and sounds like your recovery is Wonderful  angry

Had my 6 mos follow-up yesterday and my Labs were all GR8....BMI is down from 42 to 27.2 and was told I should get to minus 25.  Interestingly enough, the dietician reduced my daily protein intake goal of 60 - 80 to "60 - 70" and I had just recently (myself) increased it a bit, hoping to possibly help with my hair loss and nail condition (guess I was wrong on that!).....now that I am 7 mos out, she said that these 2 conditions should now start "recovering"??

Told me that, still, my primary focus should be on "protein" and secondary should be on "fiber"...maybe add some Bran Buds to my yogurt or shake and have a prune or 2?  (1/4 c. prunes = 29 CARBS for only 2g Fiber  YIKES!!! and 1/3 c. Bran Buds = 24 Carb/ 13g Fiber).  Even with deducting the fiber for "actual carbs"....still a LOT of carbs  indecisionGuess it's gonna be a few of the "Buds" ??

She reiterated, DON'T focus on Cal count!!!   She's OK with my keeping Carbs well below 30 (due to being a Carboholic) and, is OK with continued use of RTD shake for breakfast.  Took copies of my daily menus and she was impressed!  Everyone is pleased with my progress....ME TOO!!  kiss  Had hoped to be at the "100 lbs lost" mark for this appt but, AM getting there!

B - Premier choc shake + 1 T flaxseed

S - 1 hard boiled egg

L - 1 c. low carb chicken soup (recipe for this just recently posted) + 30g spinach + 1/4 c. Edamame beans

D - Tuna/Cauliflower casserole + 30g broccoli + 1 T flaxseed

S - 1 Piller's Turkey Bites sausage

TOTALS:     601 CAL;    24G CARB;    25G FAT;    73G PROT;    13G FIBER

ENJOY your day!  : )     : )

Great work, Verity, especially since you have been having an uphill battle with your Lyrica. I find that fruit carbs really don't bother me that much at all, and I never want to overeat them the way I wanted to with bread, chips, candy and such. Lots of fibre in fruit too...

Gracias Michelle.....Have been off the Lyrica now since Jan.10th and sciatica hasn't flared up at all..TG!!

My weight loss while on it was "dismal"...only half of what I was normally losing...BUT, at least I didn't GAIN!!!  (A MIRACLE for sure!)

Being diabetic (type 2), I haven't had ANY fruit since starting Opti and, now that I'm off insulin injections and only taking 2 Metformin per day, I'll work on getting some back into my diet....REALLY miss my Blueberries and Raspberries!  Will take a lot of juggling tho' to keep my carb count down  LOL.   Have an appt w/my Endocronolgist next week and am hoping to get off the Met too.

TTFN....Verity

Ohh, Great job darling!! I hope you get off the Metformin too. I go to my family doctor who has been weaning me off a water pill for high blood pressure. I'm on the lowest dosage three times a week. I expect her to have me be totally of them. Then i'm finally med-free :-)

Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!
