Surgery Process Question
If they have issues with something when they see you, they will tell you. It may not be as simple as approved or not approved. They could tell you you have extra steps to do before you go further. For me the Nut wanted me to do a couple things then see her again before I could go to the next step.

I asked each one if I had there approval, and each one said yes.
Hi mybubbles65,
I had to see a psychologist after I saw everyone else, but at the end of her assessment, she basically told me that I was approved by telling me to get some bloodwork (I also needed an ECG done when I got the blood drawn), and to call the surgeon when I'd done the bloodwork to book my appointment with him. (In my case it took forever for me to get the bloodwork and ECG because my Grandfather died and my Mom was really sick, it wasn't the 'system' that caused the delay in getting my surgeon's appt., it was myself and cir****tances). It might take about a month to get a surgeon's appointment.
According to what I was told in the 1st seminar (I just looked at the Power Point slide photocopies), when you've jumped through all the hoops (the interviews/assessments, bloodwork, and any other medical tests), your case is evaluated by the whole team, including the surgeon, and then you get an appointment with the surgeon. So, when I saw the surgeon, she told me that it was 'a go', although I still had to have a cursory exam for every TEGH pre-op patient done by my family MD, and I still have to go through a pre-op assessment at the TEGH, presumably this too is required of every patient being operated on there and it has nothing to do with the bariatric program. I know I'll be seeing an anesthetist because I have sleep apnea then, but the surgeon said that my surgery would not be canceled.
I think that if all goes well at your meetings with the SW, NUT, and RN, and you don't have severe heart disease, e.g. you need an angioplasty, you will be approved. I have to add a disclaimer that I'm not an expert though.
Good Luck!
Jenn. :)
Thanks folks. I will ask each one if "I'm approved" at the end of the appointment. Do you know which person I would speak to about changing doctors? I am reading on here that people have called there doctors for their appointments and they get one for about a month later. When I met with the doctor a few weeks ago, he told me he is booking in August and he's off three of those weeks. I simply cannot wait that long. My body cannot handle another day of this as it is.
